For the people who have no clue about stratovarius, Waldrock, or Scandahoolia in general, here are some basic introductions to the concepts that govern most of the founding David Hunter's lives.
Stratovarius are a Finnish power/melodic metal band, formed in 1989. Practically unheard of outside Scandinavia, they are renowned in the countries that do know about them as one of the best metal bands currently touring. They have released 11 albums, ranging in success, but it is a widely held view that the pre-"Visions" albums are far inferior to their more recent offerings.
They are fronted by guitarist Timo Tolkki, and singer Timo Kotipelto, both virtuoso performers, and everey drummer who has heard them's jaw has hit the floor at the speed of some of the tracks.
Waldrock was the David Hunters first contact with the phenomenon known as Scandahoolia. Basically, when lots of norwegians/swedes/finns arte packed into a tight place. they invariably beocme psychotic and insane, and also are prone to activities such as clearing a space in a mosh pit by circling your hair at lethal speeds (This is real, honest to god, I was standing next to him/it)
Another event of interest was the discovery of the 'waldrock cyclist' a very drunk dutchman who almost ran into Ambershee and me, before disappearing. Only to reappear 5 minutes later, wheeling his bike out of a canal, saying "Ik heb in de stroom gevallen" - "I fell in the water" You can make your own conclusions, but at three in the morning, it was bloody funny.
